Noah Piper

Noah Piper is the patriarch of the Piper family in Vermont. He was born in 1750 or 1752 in Action (Bolton), Massachusetts, and died at age 79 (or 77) on September 17, 1829 in Baltimore, Vermont.

Noah is a founding settler of Baltimore, Vermont sometime before 1788, when he owned 150 acres of land. His grandfather, Nathaniell Pyper, is the patriarch of the Piper family in America, having immigrated to Ipswich in the Massachusetts Colony in 1653 from Dartmouth, England.

His parents were John Piper and Ruth Clark, who had 7 children:

Noah married Sarah Newton on March 29, 1773 in Templeton, Worcester County, MA. Their children were:

Noah served (in his late 20s) in the Revolutionary War, serving at the Battle of Saratoga on 1777. His older brother Abel had more extensive experience in the Revolutionary War, serving at Concord/Lexington (1775), the Battle of Dorchester Heights (1776) when George Washington forced the British out of Boston, and Saratoga (1777).

Charley Ambrose


Charley Ambrose is the elder brother of Frank Ambrose, the father of Patrick, Cecilia, and Marion Ambrose. He is described as being 6' 1 1/2" tall, having blue eyes, dark brown hair, a "muddy" complexion, and in excellent health and fitness.

Charley was born in May or June 1882 in Vilna, Lithuania (then part of Russia). He died May 21, 1937 at the age of 55 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Charley immigrated to the U.S. in either 1898 or 1900 and worked as a laborer. He became a naturalized citizen in 1904. He first enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 15, 1907 at age 25. He reenlisted every 3 years thereafter, until his retirement April 30, 1935.

In 1910 Private Charles Ambrose, age 28, was stationed at Fort Schuyler Reservation in Bronx, New York. In 1920 Sgt. Ambrose was stationed at Camp Lewis in Washington State (located between Olympia and Tacoma).

Prior to his death he resided at 234 Turner Street, Allentown, Pennsylvania (see Map). On April 9, 1937 he was admitted to the Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. and died there on May 21, 1937 at 1:04 a.m. The cause of death was Tuberculosis pulmonary chronic active all lobes both lungs with cavitation both upper lobes, which he had for 10 years. Secondary causes were Arterioclerosis generalized, and Mycardial insufficiency with congestive heart failure, which he had for for 3 months.

Eva Rose Garand

Eva Rose Juaire Garand is the mother of Oscar and Leo Garand, and grandmother of Ronald Garand and his siblings.

She was born January 1, 1891 in Notre Dame de Stanbridge Village, Quebec, Canada, (see Map) a small farming Community (2006 population: 728) about 40 miles SE of Montreal and 7 miles north of Vermont. She died at age 91 on December 20, 1982 in Barre, Vermont.

Her parents were Moses (Moise) and Elizabeth (Elise) Juaire, who had 7 children:
